May 10 marks the 65th anniversary of the prominent Azerbaijani historian Professor Karim Shukurov. For the first time in Azerbaijani historiography, Professor Karim Shukurov studied the legal and political issues of population migration between Iran and the Russian Empire, the dynamics and location of migrants, and the historical demography of Azerbaijan.
Every year, May 9 is celebrated in Azerbaijan as the Day of Victory over fascism. Because during the Great Patriotic War, our people showed great examples of heroism and bravery both at the frontline and the rear. During the war, more than six hundred thousand brave sons and daughters of Azerbaijan were sent to the front, and Azerbaijani divisions passed the glorious battle route from the Caucasus to Berlin. The fact that more than 170,000 Azerbaijanis have been awarded orders and medals and 130 of our compatriots have been awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union is a clear proof of this. If Azerbaijani oil had not been sent to the front at that time, this war would not have ended in victory.
May 10 marks the 98th anniversary of the birth of the National leader of the Azerbaijani people, world-class political figure Heydar Aliyev. Heydar Aliyev is a unique person who opened a new bright page in the centuries-old history of our statehood.
